RetroCon 2014

RetroCon in Oaks, P.A. made The Mimik feel like a kid all over again as soon as he set foot in the door!

Being in the presence of all those toys! Just… WOW! A two day collectible toy convention would make any kid or adult in this case go nuts!  From Transformers, G.I. Joe, Smurfs, Star Wars, Thundercats, you name it! Every possible toy growing up in the 80’s/90’s were for sale. A bit pricey on selected items.

Never mind the early morning rise, the long distance drive, & slow morning start, The Mimik was quite comfortable in this setting. As the usual setup artwork & prints weren’t the only things available for purchase @The Mimik’s table. He brought some vintage pieces out of his own toy collection as well. Honestly they went faster than any print could have! As long as they found new homes, he couldn’t be more pleased.

And who best to guard all this merchandise? Why, new FWO member & cosplayer Sgt. FRESH made sure there wasn’t any unwanted funny business going ’round!

Mimik knew ahead of time that WWE’s Sgt. Slaughter would be in attendance so he worked up a painting for the once G.I.Joe character. What wasn’t expected was the sudden appearance of WWE’s The Boogeyman who snuck up to The Mimik’s table asking “wheres my painting?” lol.

The Mimik also got to meet various cosplayers whose outfits were very cool. Sailor Moon, Link, Poison Ivy, a female version of Edward Scissorhands, Hawk Girl who ended up w a custom character drawing of herself, & the ever so popular couple: Harley Quinn & The Joker.

Can’t wait to do it again next year.
