Money was tight. Schedules conflicting. Positions trifling. Torn 50/50. With enough convincing the Collective FRESHman known as The Mimik & ElanWonder once again geared up & headed to the sunny beaches of Miami for this years Art Basel.
Slightly different & less hectic than the past two years was the plan. We took our time & almost immediately headed to stuff our faces with all the croqueta preparadas & flans we could handle.
With belly’s full we headed to Ft. Lauderdale to meet up with GPK brother Wies to paint a short yet lengthy wall. Starting a little late & the weather not very cooperative so we left to relax, kick back, & converse for few hours before heading home & checking out Wynwoods artistic nightlife. We returned the next day to finish the wall of course.
An early start to the weekend with coffee & pastelitos in hand next we headed to a location entitled The Bake House Art Complex. This wall has fame so they tagged a theme to all the artist painting at this location. The theme was Miami crews. So The Mimik, Wies, Broke, & Ms. Marvel, all from different time frames of the GPK/BSK eras, took turns filling up the wall space.
Waking up late on the last day would’ve been ideal, but there were still many things to do….. we woke up late. Tried to catch the Scope Show on Miami Beach, but unfortunately the main attraction for The Mimik was no longer exhibiting. We proceeded to walk along Ocean Drive & snatch up a drink before heading back to Wynwood for day time photos & then head over to the GPK HQ.
Yeah…. we should’ve woken up earlier. See ya’ Miami.
